"The Wolf-Cowled Head-Hunters of Amun-Rak"
Upon returning to his native surroundings of Amun-Rak, the savage warrior Ironjaw comes across the arrow-filled corpse of one of his fellow band of robbers. He is soon assailed by the Sheriff's men.
Ironjaw realizes that he is outnumbered, but prepares to go down fighting and taking as many of the enemy with him. Timely arrival by Tar-Lok and his compatriots dispenses the need for a self-sacrifice. A bizarre bartering session between barbarians begins - to decide if Tar-Lok's band of rogues should join the battle to save Ironjaw's skin.
Raw aggression and battle instinct beat discipline and regimen. The thieves return to their retreat to feast for the night. Next morning the men make their pilgrimage to the Great Machine.
Ham-Suk, the priest gladly accepts tributes for the idol. Although Tar-Lok expresses his mistrust of the priest and dismisses him as a simple con-man. This open dissent prompts Ham-Suk to descend the mountain to entreat a village of Headhunters to claim the scalp of Tar-Lok.
Tar-Lok is ambushed and captured by the Headhunters. When Ironjaw learns of this, he has to rescue his adoptive father alone.
