"The Wonder of the Ages!!! Magnetor!"

Hunk Larkin is the biggest, strongest man in the county, even if he isn't the smartest. He can't hold a job, so he eventually becomes the fodder for the dangerous job of first manned space mission. His rocket passes through a band of radiation and he returns to Earth with the power of magnetism. Hunk decides to use his new powers to get even with mankind for its cruelty, and he is soon dubbed Magnetor (Magneto in the original story). He is ultimately tricked onto a space ship headed for the stars, for his good and ours. 13 pages.
Note: this story formed the prototype not only for Magneto, the first evil mutant, but also for the origin story, which was re-used in the birth of the Fantastic Four.
"Shangri-La"
Reprinted from Journey Into Unknown Worlds #55.
A pilot and a business man run into mechanical problems and are forced to land their plane on a trip over the Himalayas. They crash and awaken in the care of John Simmons in the land of Shangri-La. Simmons promises a long, peaceful existence. The business man wants none of this and fights his way back to civilization. Once there, he tells people of his adventure, but they tell him that John Simmons disappeared 400 years ago. 3 pages.
"They Met on Mars!"
Reprinted from Strange Tales (Vol 1) #84.
Two ships land nearly simultaneously on Mars, both eager to claim the planet as theirs. The two odd looking pilots step out of their ships and face each other. One flees to his ship and departs, but not before destroying the other's ship. Both, it turns out, were human, wearing other-worldly space suits. In this retelling, the two were agents of HYDRA and SHIELD. 5 pages.
