The rich man is in his grave, the victim of his housekeeper and his lawyer's scheming to get his money by first murdering the rich man's wife, then telling him the lie that she had been unfaithful. The man committed suicide and left his fortune to the housekeeper. She and the lawyer congratulate themselves at the rich man's graveside, but even dead ears can hear confessions, and even dead hands can seek vengeance. 8 pages.

A dying puppet-master spends his last moments talking with his many beloved puppets, bemoaning the fact that the woman he loved has left him on his deathbed alone. Yet, before he dies that night, in the dark, his love returns to spend his last moments with him, easing his passing. What they find the next morning next to the dead man is his lover, dead and tied up like a puppet, having been controlled by the other puppets to please their master. 7 pages.
