*"With Captain Crais I wanted a character who would start out as a tv series standard: the irrational, dogged pursuer. I wanted the audience to believe they had him easily figured out, then we'd slowly reveal the complex personal demons which truly motivated him. He and his brother had been shanghaied by the Peacekeepers while still boys, and his father's last words to him were to take care of his younger brother. By the end of the fir first season, Crais had made the transition from obvious villain to a troubled, conflicted man who engendered sympathy as well as fear." *Source: Back of card
