Mike Joyce, who created all the models for Batman Forever, was amazedn at Independence Day's miniature requirements: "There are cities to build, there are alien spacecraft, helicopters, fiter jets...it just runs the gamut of everything you could do in miniatures. Luckilt, (director/co-writer) Roland Emmerich knows how to use miniatures, how to use miniatures, how to photograph them."
