*Will Eisner's 'camera' moved in a cinematic fashion in his Spirit stories. This splash, with its' striking worm's eye view, embodies several of Will Eisner's visual trademarks. Dramatic lighting, here provided by street lamps, was a characteristic feature.
The newspaper headline cleverly provides the story lead. Water, whether as torrential rain, dock scenes or this gutter, carrying the malleable logo with it, was so endemic to The Spirit that Harvey Kurtzman coined the term "Eisenshpritz" to describe the phenomenon. *Source: Back of card.
