*Born on the planet of Chulak and a member of the Jaffa race, Teal'c has inside his body a Goa'uld larva, which gives him powerful healing abilities and immunity to myriad diseases. For this reason, although he looks much younger, Teal'c is actually over 90 years old. Teal'c once served as the First Prime of Apophis, but after aiding the SG-1 team during its first mission to Chulak, he voluntarily chose to leave his family and culture behind to become a member of the SG-1 team. His main reason for joining SG-1 was to try to set straight the misdeeds of his past, and to win freedom for his people from the Goa'uld.
