*"Vampirella was the first comic book heroine pin-up queen," observes famed comics illustrator George Perez, who has rendered scores of attractive fantasy females over the years. "The first time I discovered her was probably the first time everyone did, when Frank Frazetta did that beautiful cover for the first issue. And Jose Gonzalez artwork (for the continuing series) was always exceptional." says Perez. "I think Vampirella was out of fashion for awhile because of the Comics Code, until Warren, which didn't follow the Comics Code, brought her out in the late 60's. She was the start of what would end up becoming the current bad girl/good art experience." As for the kinky aspect of his illustration, Perez is philosophical, "Vampi was a fulfillment of male fantasy, and everyone to his own." *Source: Back of card
