*For most of his professional life, writer/artist Matt Wagner has worked on his creator-owned projects. His first professional comic book work was a Grendel story in Comico Primer #2, which saw print in 1983, and Grendel has enjoyed a steadily increasing fan base ever since. Born in central Pennsylvania and currently residing in Portland, Ore., the 32-year-old Wagner's credits include the popular Mage and Grendel for Comico, Batman/Grendel for DC, and Grendel: War Child for Dark Horse. Nowadays, he's overseeing Grendel Tales for Dark Horse, for which he
will write and draw a backup tale about Grendel-Prime that is scheduled to appear in the future issues.
