Fill In the Blank

It doesn’t get any cooler than Spider-Man running down the side of a building talking to Aunt May on his cell phone! That is how this story opens. Aunt May is at the bank, and it is being robbed. Of course Peter Parker must get there to save the day as Spider-Man.

And who is the bad guy? Is that Mr. Negative? No, it’s the Blank! This story is very cool. It is told in a single issue, and I really like that for a change. The dialog was great. I can’t say that the Blank was a bad guy I would have thought of, but hey, they can’t all be Venom. In spite of a potential hokey bad guy, it turns out to be a fun story.

Blank gives Spidey a run for his money. The non-stick field around the bad guy won’t allow Spider-Man’s webs to stick. That makes for an interesting fight, and chase.

The artwork we good. Thanks Marvel for bringing in Lee Weeks to pull you out of a bad slump of art work. I love the emotion Lee can put into a panel, and on the facial expressions of his character drawings.

The writing was good too. Roger Stern crafts a cool story, and tells it all in a single issue. That is very refreshing. The story kept me anxious to read the next page. The exchange between characters was good, and believable.

I would say that if you are not reading Amazing Spider-Man on a consistent basis, you should get started. These stories are great entertainment, and very fun. I really liked this issue.
