I picked this collection up because of my love of Ted Naifeh's work on his own Courtney Crumrin. Sadly, he only does the art here and not the writing too. I think I'd have enjoyed it more if he had, since Gary Witta makes this just a little too cutesy for my taste. Death, Jr. is a video game tie-in book, but thankfully doesn't read like one. It's the tale of the Grim Reaper's son and his motley crew of friends fighting against the Reaper's evil, older, jealous brother (isn't that always the way?). Cute story and the art is great, but I really wish it could have been more on the level of Courtney Crumrin than a Grim Adventures cartoon.
