Peter Falls For The Cat

After all the girl troubles Peter Parker has been through these past few weeks, it is the Cat who steals his heart. The Black Cat that is. Felicia is up to her old tricks, teasing Spider-Man and finally enticing him into a romance he couldn’t resist. Peter Parker falls for Cat head over heels (or maybe some other body parts) and actually enjoys the challenge of a platonic relationship.

Between his escapades with Black Cat, there are some bad guys that Cat and Spider must deal with. This issue was the end of a two part story where Dexter Bennett is up to something and Spider-Man must figure it out with the help of his new (bed) side-kick.

The story line was ok and a good read, but not great. The ending did surprise me some as I thought Bennett would be a bit more sinister in the plot, but pulled through with his dignity.

The art was ok. Mike McKone and Adriana Melo did a nice job giving this story life. Probably if the art hadn’t been as good as it was, I wouldn’t have enjoyed this story as much, so kudos to the Pencil team.

All in all, it was kind of cool to see black cat again, but I think the story relevance paralleled the Spider – Cat relationship relevance in that at the end of the day it simply may not be remembered. So, this book gets 3 stars and I am not mad at myself for reading it.
